The inner winglet that began to be used by the MotoGP team in the 2017 season is basically “outsmarting” the regulation prohibiting the use of winglets that are installed separately from the main body of the motor.Winglets are proven to provide anti- wheelie effects on MotoGP bikes that have big power when accelerating.

Not surprisingly, when winglets are banned for safety reasons, the teams in MotoGP rack their brains so that the anti- wheelie effect is still obtained without an outer winglet that looks more like the horn.Watch the video from DynaBike Motor.

The bike winglets of today are mounted up front, rather like “moustaches” on the front of the fairing. Their clear purpose is to provide a force that opposes front wheel lift and the loss of control it causes.

This is one job for front downforce–to keep the front tire from lifting and destroying control. This compels either the rider or the anti-wheelie system to cut power.
