Ferrari 296 GTB: A Revolutionary V6 Hybrid Powerhouse

The Ferrari 296 GTB marks a bold new chapter in Maranello’s history as the brand’s first road car powered by a 120° V6 turbo engine, paired with a plug-in hybrid (PHEV) electric motor. This all-new power plant was designed from the ground up by Ferrari’s engineers, featuring twin turbos mounted inside the vee —a first for the brand — optimizing packaging and thermal efficiency.

Unmatched Hybrid Performance
The 2.9L twin-turbo V6 and electric motor combine to produce a staggering 830 cv (818 hp), making the 296 GTB the most powerful rear-wheel-drive sports car in its class. The hybrid system ensures instant throttle response and seamless power delivery across all rev ranges, enhancing both performance and driving pleasure.

Advanced Powertrain Engineering
The powertrain integrates several cutting-edge components:
- The V6 turbo engine, with its 120° angle for better balance and lower center of gravity.
- An 8-speed dual-clutch transmission (DCT) with an electronic differential (E-Diff) for precise handling.
- An MGU-K (Motor Generator Unit-Kinetic) positioned between the engine and gearbox, recovering energy under braking and delivering electric boost.
- A clutch system that disengages the combustion engine in full-electric eDrive mode, allowing for 25 km (15.5 miles) of zero-emission driving—ideal for urban use.
- A high-voltage battery and inverter controlling the electric motor’s power delivery.

Driving Dynamics & Flexibility
The 296 GTB excels in both daily usability and high-performance driving. Its hybrid system ensures smooth, lag-free acceleration, while the electric mode provides silent, emission-free mobility. The compact V6 architecture also contributes to sharper handling, reinforcing Ferrari’s commitment to innovation without compromising driving emotion.

A New Benchmark
With its groundbreaking V6 hybrid setup, the 296 GTB redefines supercar performance, blending Ferrari’s signature thrills with next-gen efficiency. It’s a testament to the brand’s engineering prowess—proving that electrification can enhance, rather than dilute, the Ferrari experience.
